Mixing
Your tracks get a clear balance, believable space and dynamics that hold up on headphones, car speakers and small devices — mixed in our control room with 3 pairs of nearfield monitors.

A mix decides whether listeners catch the lyrics, whether the bass carries the groove and whether your reference still sounds like your song. At Olivevanta in Amsterdam we work offline: you supply stemmed sessions or exports, we build the mix in our room and send a first version for review. No all-day livestream of fader moves; focused feedback and revisions according to our rules.
The service suits artists who record in our vocal booth or elsewhere, bands that deliver material from live sessions, and producers who want stems finished before mastering. Ruben Meijer coordinates mix projects; for larger releases we agree timeline and delivery dates upfront via contact.
How it works
Brief
Send stems or a session, tempo, key, reference tracks and short notes per song (vocal focus, rough bass, etc.). We confirm scope, fee and schedule within 2 business days.
Tech check
We verify sample rate, headroom, clipping and file names. Missing stems or wrong exports are sorted before mix time starts.
Mix and review
First mix version via download link. Listen on your own systems; bundle feedback per track in one email, as described in our revision rounds guide.
Delivery
After included revisions we deliver final mixdowns. We can align with mastering if needed; session backups stay 18 months on our systems.
Who this mix service is for
Singer-songwriters releasing a single, hip-hop and pop producers with home-recorded vocals, and bands with separate tracks after a live session use our mix rates most often. Labels and managers in the Amsterdam area also send EPs of three to six songs because the EP package at €695 incl. 21% VAT stays predictable within the stated track cap.
Mixing is not on-site production coaching: if you want balance decisions while tracking, book studio time via services. If you only need vocal polish without full production, say so upfront — sometimes a limited stem mix plus mastering is enough.
What to send
Prefer 24-bit WAV stems, all from the same start point (bar 1, sample 0). Export without a limiter on the mix bus; keep 14 preamp colour if it is part of your sound, but avoid hard clipping. Say whether you want a dry vocal or light room from your recording session.
- Stems grouped by role: drums, bass, keys, guitar, vocals, FX
- Instrumental bounce for reference (mp3 works, WAV is better)
- Reference tracks: up to three songs with a short note on what you want from them
- Lyrics or hook text when the vocal must cut sharply
If you send a DAW session instead of WAVs, list version and essential plug-ins. Large files via cloud link; see our FAQ on file formats.
How we mix in the control room
We work in a controlled listening environment with several monitor pairs so we do not trust a single sweet spot. Balance means: vocal upfront without the instrumental collapsing, kick and bass working together without mud, and stereo parts that survive mono phone playback.
We keep dynamics on purpose: we do not duck everything under the vocal unless that is your aesthetic. Dance and pop may use tighter bus compression; jazz and acoustic material keeps more breath and transients. Effects sit in context of your references, not as generic presets.
When material comes from our own rooms we know the space; external recordings are compensated with EQ and space within reasonable limits — we cannot erase a badly mic’d room.
Revisions and feedback
Each mix rate includes 2 revision rounds after the first delivery. A round is one bundled list of changes per track, not a drip of dozens of messages. Small tweaks fit one round; a completely new direction counts as an extra round or billable time — we discuss that openly first.
The knowledge base article on revision rounds explains how to phrase feedback (timecode, element, desired change) so turnaround stays short.
Delivery and formats
Standard delivery:
- Final mixdown: 24-bit WAV, 48 kHz (other rates on request if your project requires it)
- Optional 320 kbps mp3 for quick sharing
- Short note with peak level and mastering recommendation
We do not return individual stems unless agreed and invoiced separately. Our DAW project files stay in-house; you receive the bounce needed for distribution.
After delivery we keep mix sessions and source files for 18 months, then delete unless you ask for an extension. Back up locally.
Turnaround
A single track is usually scheduled within five to ten business days after complete delivery and confirmed quote. EPs and albums get a calendar with milestones: first two reference songs for sound approval, then the rest in batch. Rush is sometimes possible at extra cost when the room is free — ask via 020 244 8619 or [email protected].
Opening hours: Monday–Friday 09:30–21:30, Saturday 10:00–17:00. Closed Sunday; evening sessions by appointment.. Mix work mostly happens without you on site; if you want to hear the first pass in the studio, book an hour via contact (studio time separate from the mix fee).
Rates incl. VAT
All listed amounts are consumer prices incl. 21% VAT. Business invoicing excl. VAT is available at €158.68 net per track; B2B payment term 21 days where applicable.

Not included
The mix fee does not cover mastering, tuning/repair of poor recordings, extra production (arrangement, new parts), heavy vocal editing beyond normal comping help, or rights registration with collecting societies. You can book mastering with us separately.
If stems are out of sync or missing, we charge prep time or move the deadline. We do not promise chart or playlist outcomes — we deliver a technically solid mix that matches your brief.

FAQ
Can I attend while you mix?
The mix itself is offline. You can book an hour in the studio to review the first version together; that is separate studio time, not included in the mix fee.
How many stems can I send?
There is no hard cap, but stay organised: twenty-four clear tracks beat eighty duplicates. When unsure, send a bounce plus key elements; we advise before starting.
Do you mix Dolby Atmos or surround?
Standard delivery is stereo. Spatial formats are discussed case by case; we may involve a partner or schedule extra hours.
What if I want changes after the included revisions?
Extra rounds are possible at an agreed hourly or per-track rate. We quote upfront so there are no surprises.
Do you tune vocals?
Light tuning and timing help within reason is part of mixing. Heavy word-by-word pitch correction is extra editing; mention it in your brief.
