Podcast recording

Two to four hosts at a round table, each on a broadcast microphone, shared headphones and a producer watching levels, crosstalk and silences — in our podcast room in Amsterdam East.

Three podcast hosts talk at round table with microphones.

A podcast sounds amateur the moment levels jump, chairs squeak or one voice drowns the rest. In our setup Amira van Slooten runs the session: mic placement, monitoring and calm cues so you talk instead of operating gear. Recording is multitrack; at the end of the block you get a rough edit to listen or forward to your regular editor.

The service targets interview shows, news roundups, internal company podcasts and creators moving from home recording to a fixed studio. You do not need broadcast experience: we briefly explain mic distance and keeping interruptions short. For deeper edit choices read our podcast edit guide; full finishing edits are outside the standard hourly rate.

How it works

  1. Intake

Describe format, speaker count, target length and whether you bring a live audience. We send a proposal with hourly, episode or season pricing within 2 business days.

  2. Setup

On arrival we check voices, headphones and notes. Each speaker gets a fixed spot; we run a short sound check and record room tone if useful.

  3. Record

You record with a producer present. Breaks are flexible; long pauses get marked. Up to four voices at once in this layout.

  4. Rough delivery

After the session: multitrack WAVs plus a rough edit (level-balanced cut without music or jingles). Archive 18 months; see terms for cancellation.

Formats that fit

Two-host conversations, three- or four-person panels, solo interviews with a guest in the room and bilingual episodes with one track per language work well here. The table layout encourages eye contact; for solo presentation we reposition chairs and booms.

Poor fits include very loud formats (shouting, large live audiences) or recordings that need a reverberant hall — we are a dry studio, not a concert space. Fiction with multiple characters on one mic is also awkward; use our vocal booth per role instead.

Room and gear

Our podcast room sits inside 3 studio spaces at Sarphatistraat 72; the table area is treated for reflections, with panels on brick and flooring that damp chair noise. Matched broadcast mics on boom arms, pop filters where needed, and a separate headphone mix per person so you hear yourself and others without feedback.

We record at high resolution; the producer watches meters and can step in on clipping or rumble. Live web streaming is not standard — the focus is capture quality for later release on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or internal portals.

What to prepare

Bring an outline or script even for loose chats: segment headers help the producer trim silences. Note pronunciation of names and brands; for bilingual episodes say which language runs when.

  • Outline or question list (pdf or shared doc)
  • Intro/outro copy if you record it live
  • Jingles on USB or link if you want them referenced (we do not mix them into the rough edit by default)
  • Remote guest details — hybrid is limited; discuss upfront

Avoid rustling clothes and jewellery on mics. Water and cups are ready; alcohol and smoking in the recording room are not allowed.

Rough edit vs final edit

The hourly rate and episode package include a rough edit: one continuous timeline with clear takes, gentle fades on hard cuts, no music, no ad inserts, no heavy uhm removal. Think of a listenable work bounce for your editor or internal team.

Full finishing — silence stripping, crosstalk cleanup, intro music, platform loudness — can stay with your editor or be quoted separately with us. The podcast edit article compares edit levels so you know what to book.

Seasons and recurring shows

Regular teams often book the ten-episode season package at €1,950 incl. 21% VAT. That locks planning and price; episodes need not be recorded in one month but within an agreed window (often twelve months). Standalone blocks of about two studio hours match €245.

For weekly recording we reserve recurring slots where possible within Mon–Fri 09:30–21:30, Sat 10–17. Cancel or move free up to 5 days ahead; after that the 25% deposit may apply per terms and conditions.

Files and delivery

After each session you receive:

  • Multitrack WAV per speaker (24-bit, 48 kHz)
  • Optional stereo mix-minus for quick review
  • Rough edit as one WAV or per agreed segment

Files go via secure download link. We keep recordings 18 months then delete unless you extend. Back up locally and check GDPR when guests share personal data — see privacy policy.

FAQ

How many speakers at once?

Up to four people at the table in the standard setup, each with mic and headphones. More voices need a different plan or extra mics — ask upfront.

Is remote dial-in possible?

Phone or video remote is limited and depends on your platform. We prefer physical presence for sync and quality; hybrid sometimes works on a separate line.

Do you provide show notes or transcription?

Not by default. We can refer partners or quote transcription after recording.

Can I bring my own mics?

Our matched set keeps balance consistent. Own gear may work if compatible and after discussion — expect extra setup time.

What if an episode runs short or long?

The episode rate assumes about two hours. Shorter blocks use the hourly rate; longer sessions bill in half-hour steps.

Can I do a trial session?

Book one hour at €82 to test the room and workflow before committing to a season.
